Evaristus

Pope Evaristus (c. 99–107 AD) organized the Roman Church by dividing the city into parishes assigned to specific priests, establishing roots of the modern parish system. Tradition holds he was martyred under Emperor Trajan and buried near Saint Peter's tomb.
