"Be who you are and be that well."
Saint Francis de Sales was a Bishop of Geneva who became a model of patience and gentleness in the turbulent wake of the Protestant Reformation. Born into nobility and trained in law, he gave up a worldly career to become a priest. He volunteered to evangelize the Chablais region, where Calvinism had taken hold, often risking his life to slip pamphlets under doors—making him a patron of journalists. He is best known for his spiritual masterpiece, 'Introduction to the Devout Life,' which was revolutionary for teaching that holiness is possible for everyone—soldiers, courtiers, and housewives—not just monks and nuns. His motto was 'He who preaches with love, preaches effectively.'
