A Dominican friar elected Pope, Pius V was the great implementer of the Council of Trent. His path of reform standardized the Mass and rallied the Holy League to victory at the Battle of Lepanto, attributing the triumph to the Rosary and establishing the Feast of Our Lady of Victory.
